Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Q.  What do I do if I have found a stray cat or kitten?

A.  Rescues are not licensed to pick up stray felines.  If you have found a stray cat or kitten, please call Butts County Animal Control at 770-775-8011.

Q.  Does Klassy Kats work for Butts County Animal Control?

A.  No, we are an all-volunteer cat rescue organization and work directly WITH Butts County Animal Control as their cat rescue contact.  Once cats or kittens are received as intakes in to the shelter, staff will contact us, and Klassy Kats provides for the needs of all cats from intake date forward.  We are completely foster based, and do not have a facility of our own.

Q.  What if I have found an abandoned kitten?

A.  Please do not immediately pick up kitten without doing an assessment of the following things.  1.  Is the kitten clean and plump?  If so, mom is most likely close by and may be searching for food.  Please observe from a distance for a couple of hours.  Moms often move kittens in search of safety, or to become closer to a food source.  They could also be in the process of moving one kitten at a time.  2.  If the kitten is dirty and thin, and appears in distress, no mom has been seen for an observed period of time, call Butts County Animal Control at 770-775-8011.  Important factors for keeping kittens under 5 weeks alive is warmth and food.  Also a good reference is "The Kitten Lady" website at kittenlady.org.

Q.  What is the process for adopting a cat or kitten from Klassy Kats?

A.  First, find a kitty that you are interested in meeting either through this website, in person at Butts County Animal Control (by visiting one of the three free-roaming rooms), or viewing available kitties at Petsense in Locust Grove.  Second, once you find a kitty that you are interested in, complete either an online application on this website by clicking on "adopt" next to the kitty's picture, or by completing a printed application available at Petsense in Locust Grove, or at Butts County Animal Control.  Lastly, once the completed application is received and approved a volunteer from Klassy Kats will work with you to set up a time for your personal Meet and Greet with any/all kitties that you are interested in.

Q.  What do adoption fees include when I adopt a Klassy Kat kitty?
